Great condo value in a beautiful location! Alex and Michelle's Kona Reef condo was a great place to stay while visiting Kona. The second floor unit has an amazing view from the lanai. A great place to watch surfers out in the water and sunsets over the water. The condo is in a great location within easy walking distance to the heart of Kona right on ali'i Drive.

We had a wonderful stay and the view from this Condo is spectacular! We saw porpoises and a turtle right from the patio of our condo. We also had several beautiful sunsets and everyday we saw the boats taking people out fishing, para sailing and dinner cruises. We were able to walk from the condo into town for shopping at all the stores, and farmers market. The condo area has a great pool and barbecue area.

We have enjoyed our stays at Kona Reef condo. The condo is highly maintained and shows pride of ownership by Alex and Michele. This is truly an ocean front property with beautiful views framed by palm trees. We especially enjoy having our meals on the lanai and watching the activity on the bay. It has it all - Cruise Ships, Surfers and Stand Up Paddle Boarders, and the best Sunsets!

We really enjoyed the condo for a week. It's on the second floor, directly oceanfront - right on the water, there is no view of any other condo or part of the facility from the lanai (exactly what we wanted). The kitchen and bathroom are newly remodeled, fully equipped, and quite nice. There are plenty of cooking utinsils, and usually basic cooking ingredients (oil, soy sauce, etc) in the fridge. There's a drip coffeemaker and filters. There's a full washer and dryer in-unit (remember to buy some detergent for yourself when you land though) - there's also an iron and counter-top ironing board. There's a TV in the living room with cable, although we never used it. No TV in the bedroom. The bedroom doesn't have windows except high up ventilation ones (it gets a bit hot back there unless you open them). AC unit is a standard window unit by the lanai doors, and keeps the place cool - it's on a 60 minute timer switch, so use it strategically and keep the door closed. Ceiling fans in each room help out, although there's no fan on the lanai, so in summer months you may want to use one of the portable fans out there (there's a small black one in the closet). Parking is easy - we parked in the side, surface lot with the included parking pass (he will e-mail to you), always had open spaces, and was within sight of the front door. Kona Reef itself is a pretty nice, standard "condo-tel" for Hawaii. It's aging a bit but this unit is nicely updated. The pool and hot tub are in the center of the complex and overlook the water (if you're in a chair, you can't see the ocean if you're actually in the pool). There are some grills and deck chairs to use. There's no indoor common space to speak of. You don't need to deal with a front office here - just walk right up to the condo front door upon arriving and parking. Location is great - you can walk to the Royal Kona Resort in about 5 minutes, which contains Don's Mai Tai Bar, a nice (if aging) oceanfront bar. Also easily walkable is Huggo's oceanfront restaurant and bar, as well as the other bars and shops at the core of Ali'i Drive (about 7-8 minutes walk), including convenience stores you can pick up sunscreen, laundry soap, etc. Overall an excellent location if you'd like to be able to walk to bars and restaurants in the evening. Safeway and Walmart are just a few minutes drive away. The host of this condo is great, friendly, very attentive and communicative.

We had a magnificent stay in this lovely condo, everything about it is first class. The remodeling provided a beautiful open space in the main living area with spectacular views from the lanai. Well appointed updated kitchen and bath, and wonderfully artistic details throughout added to the comfort and luxurious feel of staying here, so relaxing. Morning coffee on the lanai watching the waves and surfers was sheer heaven. Lovely high top table/chairs on the lanai as well as a lounge chair; being on the second floor provided additional privacy. The condo development is beautifully maintained and provides a peaceful contrast to the nearby bustling Kona, which was a fun nearly daily jaunt during our stay. The pool/hot tub area also next to the ocean was as good as it gets---clean, never too crowded, tables with umbrellas as well as lounge chairs, and of course, a spectacular view. Watched the sun set one night from there and people were just lined up along the oceanfront as if paying tribute to another beautiful day in paradise. Multiple grills in the area along with bathrooms, everything you could want for a day at the pool. Alex & Michelle were fantastic hosts! Kind, gracious, wanting you to have the most memorable vacation experience with any help they could offer. Their suggestions for dining and sightseeing, including "must sees", were the absolute best, and we surely enjoyed having Alex along on our journeys via remote connection thru texts. He was easily reachable to answer questions and sincerely interested in helping us make our way around the island and enjoy special treats and sites. We ended up driving over 1200 miles during our stay, across the island twice via the exciting Saddle Road. To both northern and southern tips. Saw many of the great sites and used the resources they provided in the condo in a guidebook and binder. It was a wonderfully comfortable place to stay with the best amenities, including fantastic beach chairs and bamboo mats, cooler. Nice to have laundry facilities too. Warmest thanks to Alex & Michelle for helping us have a joyful visit filled with wonderful memories and shared laughs along the way.
